What you actually need for 4K IPTV in Canada
“4K IPTV” on a landing page does not upgrade a 1080p hotel-set TV. Ultra HD is a chain: source, player, cable, television, and enough megabits at 8 p.m. Break any link and you are watching HD with extra marketing.

The TV has to be 4K
Look for Ultra HD / 2160p in the spec sheet. A “smart” HD set will not become 4K because the app says so. If the TV is 1080p, enjoy HD and save the bitrate.
HDMI cables and ports
Use an HDMI port that the manufacturer marked for 4K (often HDMI 2.0 or 2.1). Cheap 1.4 cables and soundbar hops can silently fall back to 1080p. Plug the stick or Apple TV into the TV first; add audio later if the picture is confirmed.
The player and the internet
Fire Stick 4K, Apple TV 4K, recent Google TV, and many 2022+ Samsung/LG sets can decode 4K. Then you still need ~25–40 Mbps of clean throughput to that device. Review the speed guide if a 4K demo looks like a slideshow.
Not every title is 4K
Live news, older movies, and some sports windows are HD. A 4K plan means the player can request Ultra HD when the feed exists — not that every row in the guide is 2160p. That is true of licensed apps too.
